How to choose surfboards for beginners?

How to choose surfboards for beginners?

The biggest mistake beginner surfers make is to attempt to surf on small, low volume boards with very little foam. It’s an easy trap to fall into because we see pro servers on TV absolutely shredding on their tiny boards, and we want to do the same thing. It's true that small surfboards are more maneuverable, but the downside is they provide less buoyancy, making it more difficult to paddle and catch waves.

Larger boards will help you to catch more waves in the beginning, which helps you to progress faster and have more fun out there when you're starting out. That's because larger boards sit higher in the water, creating less drag, making it easier for you to paddle fast enough to actually catch a wave. In addition, larger boards are more stable. Furthermore, larger boards will work in smaller waves that would be nearly impossible to surf on a low volume short board. These smaller waves are ideal for beginners because they allow you to get more comfortable in the ocean, making mistakes, practice and ultimately improve, so that you can progress to larger waves when you're ready. So, now you're thinking, there are still an overwhelming number of large board options, which one should I get? So here's a quick guide to make it simple. It should be a soft top. It should be 8 feet long if you weigh less than 140 pounds. It should be at least 9 feet long if you weigh 140 to 200 pounds. It should be 9 1/2 feet long, if you weigh over 200 pounds. So why soft top? One, they're less expensive than fiberglass boards. Two, soft tops are less dangerous for yourself and others who could potentially be a hit by the board. Three, they can take more abuse. A fiberglass board can easily get dinged and then take on water and become unusable. As a beginner. It will help to not have to worry about damaging your surfboard.

So surfboards in our online shop are some great options for beginners. They'll help you to catch more waves, have more successful rides and ultimately help you progress more rapidly.
